Acceptable Use Examples:

• In a classroom or lecture setting
• While studying or reading
• While completing stationary leisure tasks

Never Acceptable:

• While operating a motor vehicle
• While operating machinery

Note that due to the requirement of the TrueDepth Camera (Face ID Sensor), Keep Alert's full functionality is only available on an iPhone X or newer (iPhone X, iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max).

Overview

Keep Alert integrates artificial intelligence with the iPhone X/11 TrueDepth Camera to analyze facial expressions and notify users of any lapse in attentiveness, like moments when the eyes are shut. It monitors various factors including blinking rate, head positioning, and eye focus to anticipate diminished alertness.

Functionality:

• Place your phone securely facing your face and click "Begin Session." The indicator in the upper right corner will confirm detection by Keep Alert.
• The app combines data from the TrueDepth Camera and Front Facing Camera to monitor facial feature positions.
• During initial minutes of a session, Keep Alert establishes baseline metrics for aspects like head posture, blinking frequency, and blink speed.
• If diminished attentiveness is detected, an audible alert is triggered due to factors like slower blink speed and stationary position of eyes and head.
• If the user closes their eyes or nods forward, Keep Alert will sound an alert indicating disrupted alertness.
• To conclude a session, click "End Session." All data is deleted post-session ensuring no personal information leaves the device. Consult the privacy policy for further details.

Additionally, Keep Alert offers Illuminate Mode which leverages phone screen illumination on the user's face to enable functionality in low-light conditions.
